Nahjee Cook is an example of resilience, a symbol grit, a beacon of light as to the value of hard work. Her present-day story is a testament to the power of hope and the lasting impact of a few positive relationships.  Nahjee is currently the Director of Youth Development and a Community Advocate. She is a product of a foster care system that has failed her in a number of ways on multiple occasions and has experienced living in homeless shelters throughout her childhood. Nahjee is passionate about learning and education. She is an encourager of others in particular youth to be all that they want to be despite their current or past circumstances.

 

Nahjee Cook has over 10 years of experience working with marginalized individuals and advocating for youth. She is devoted to educating herself and developing her skillset to increase her ability to serve others more efficiently and effectively.  Nahjee is currently working on her master’s degree in Public Administration at Marist College. After receiving her bachelor’s degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice she was offered a community service position under Mayor DeBlasio’s Administration. As one of the program facilitators for this initiative with NYC’s Administration for Children Services she helped other city agencies and community-based organizations understand the real impact of Domestic violence (DV) and how to better services and support DV victims. Nahjee has also served as a detention officer for Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Houston, TX. She was the supervisor for alternative classroom at Ramapo for Children in Rhinebeck New York.  In addition to being a featured presenter at Pace University’s Judicial Center, Brooklyn College Social Workers Program and a number of other speaking engagement.
